Speed Of Light Event- Edinburgh
On Wednesday 29th August 2012, 10 pupils on 5/6th along with Mr Morrison, will be taking part in a special event to commemorate the 2012 Olympic Games. The Runners along with 250 others will complete a choreographed run that involves walking, jogging running turning up Arthur's Seat, whilst wearing a specially designed light suit. On Sunday 24th June the pupils will attend a special training day in Edinburgh. Here is a video that gives a flavour of the event and some advice for the runners.

Sports Leadership. The S4 Sports Leaders will be hosting a multi sports event for 80 Primary 3-5's from our feeder primary schools on Friday 23rd March 2012. Photos to follow.
Rugby- A coach from Highland Rugby Club will be coming in for the next 2 Thursdays 3.45-4.45 (23/3/12 & 30/3/12) to do some coaching after school for all years, with the view to get a team up and running.
Mon 19th March-Girls Football
Our U-15 girls took part in a regional heat of the SSFA Cashback 7s at Dingwall Academy against teams from Invergordon, Dingwall and Dornoch.
The girls lost to Dingwall 2-0 in the first match, won the next against Dornoch 3-1 and drew 0-0 with Invergordon. As a result, they qualified for the finals in May, date and venue TBD. Well done girls. Photos from the day are in the Football section.

Sports Leadership Class Today March 22nd 2010 83 primary 3,4 & 5's from Merkinch, Central and St Josephs came to the school to participate in a multisports activity led by the Sports Leadership class assisted by 5 Senior pupils. As part of their course the pupils have to Coach for 1 hr outwith their normal P.E. times. Over the year they have helped out at a P7 fitness testing and P5 sportshall athletics sessions and today the organised 5 activities for the primary pupils to participate in, where they received skills coaching as well as playing games. Staff v Pupils football match On Thursday 25th March 2010 the Staff will take on a S5/S6 team for the anual bragging rights. The last time the staff won, was in 2006. Scroll down the page, for some of the past results.

Freestyle Football-Thursday 12th November 2009
Daniel Cutting came to the School to show off freestyle football skills and also coach some of the pupils in how to do some of the tricks. Check out the video clip of him performing and some pictures of the day, in the football section.

Athletics Recently pupils from the school took part in two Athletic events. The North Schools Championships were held on the 4th June where Barry Hamilton won a Bronze Medal in the S1 boys Long Jump with a distance of 4.27m. On Monday 20th June 2009, 38 pupils represented the school in the South Highland Inter Schools Competition at the Queens Park Stadium. The School won 1 Gold , 3 Silvers, 2 Bronzes and Silver in the S2 4x100m relay. The S2 team came 4th out of 8 Schools competing. The medals were won as follows Sandis Renckulbergs S4- Gold in Javelin (31m30cm) Barry Hamilton S2- Silver in High Jump(1m50cm),70m Hurdles and 4x100m relay Aedan Mahon S2-Silver in 4x100m Relay Jordan MacDonald S2-Silver 4x100m, Bronze 800m(2m37.30s) Andy Skinner S2-Silver 4x100m Luke Robinson S3- Silver Shot Putt(9m56cm) Beth Fraser S3-Bronze 75m Hurdles(16.8s) The full list of results can be viewed in the athletics section.

S1 1000m challenge - Today, Thursday 30th April, a special assembly was held for the 1st years, to hand out prizes and Gold certificates. The 3 teams with the most miles recieved a £5.00 sports direct gift voucher for each member and the boy and girl who covered the most miles also received a prize.During class time Silver and Bronze certificates were handed out. Nomad Cage Football- On Monday 27th April to Friday 1st May, the Youth for Christ group Nomad, will be taking over some classes with Cage Football-Check out some of the photos from last year to see what it is all about. Photos from this years classes are now in the football section.

PUPIL OF THE WEEK A new award has just been introduced to the Dept "Pupil of the Week". Each week Miss Mackinnon and Mr Morrison will decide which boy and girl from each year has done something to merit the award, this could be breaking a record, doing well in a test, putting effort into their performances that is above and beyond what others are doing, helping others out, answering well in theory lessons etc. Click on the Pupil of the Week link for the names of the winners.

X-Country North of Scotland Championships On Thursday 26th Feb 2009 30 pupils from S1-S4 travelled to Gordounston to take part in this anual schools event. Although there were no medals, there were a few notable performances in the muddy conditions. U-14 Boys Jordan MacDonald 12th, Benjie Kemp 21st & Liam Cumming 27th U-14 Girls Chloe MacKay 18th & Antonia Pelling 32nd Both events for the S1 had over 100 competitors.
